The Six Mile Water Caravan Park lies on the tranquil and scenic shores of Lough Neagh and is the perfect stop-over point for visitors to Northern Ireland. The Caravan Park is within easy walking distance of Antrim Town and Antrim Forum Leisure Complex. The Park's central location, coupled with its close proximity to Larne and Belfast Harbours, make it an ideal base for touring not only the Borough of Antrim but all of Northern Ireland.
On-site facilities include:
The Lough Shore Park has become well established for boating and a modern slipway provides easy access to the Lough.
During the summer months, a range of events including Summer Band Concerts make the Lough Shore Park a magnet for those seeking relaxation by the water's edge. The attractive surroundings make it the ideal spot to while away a few hours enjoying a picnic, feeding the swans or walking along the many pathways.
To Steven. If you would care to look at the date I wrote my last post it was 2 1/2 years before you wrote yours. At that time we had been using this great site for many years. It was only then that they started as most sites here now do taking full payment. If you also read my last post it was people like yourself I was thinking about, why did I bother. You might think you can write properly but you sure can't read. Rant over! By the way just booked this weekend great wee site and staff are great.
well said steven..
I'm booking up for this site and have NO qualms about paying up front in full. Thoroughly looking forward to getting there. It is is incredibly unbelievable that poeple complain about paying upfront. If you book a package holiday, do you not pay in full?Antrim is only doing the right thing and more power to them for even running a site such as this.To Ken, you're gonna have to pay one way or another AND this site is extremely well priced. Also, learn punctuation before a mad, petty rant. It is NOT a huge lay out of money, after all!
This is a very well run site and I must say is one of my favourites. I been to many sites that only require a deposit but they are no where near as good as this one. My 6 year old son just loves it. The tarmac paths are great for his bike and scooter compared to many gravel ones. The restaurant is also close at hand and our dog just loves the walk along the waters edge. Paying in full may seem hard at the time of booking but it means once the weekend comes you have no more money to pay out! Its the same amount of money paid either way! I hope other peoples negative comments won't put potential visitors off. Staff are great and the site is very well maintained. Def worth a trip.
Glad I read these comments first. I did want to tour NI by bike but will avoid this site, even though it looks stunning.
i visited this place about a year ago, was amazed at the scenery, so i decided to book it while i was there for this years Easter holidays, can't wait now :)
Just returned from a 5 night stay on this site it was excellent & most enjoyable. Spotlessly clean & tidy with at least 3 bin areas all with recycling bins. The toilets & other facilities are all acessed by a swipe card for which you pay a refundable £10. Entrance & exit to the site itself is also via the swipe card which also allows entrance into the large public car park after it is locked at night, extremely secure & safe. The staff could not have been nicer, more friendly or helpful & the full time warden is rightly very proud of his site. The fees were reasonable & paying the full amount in advance is not a problem, if it stops no shows I'm all for it. This site is often full as its setting right on the edge of Lough Neagh, perfect for dog walking and visiting the beautiful North Antrim coast. Highly recommend this site & we are looking forward to our next visit.
We stayed for 2 nights and loved the site. The facilities were great and the general area was senic and very well kept. The town close by was an added bonus and we will definately be returning in 2011.
I was told site was full when I telephoned. My sister went to office and got me a site by phoning me from it! When she wanted to stay an extra day she had to move over one site and I saw others doing the same even though there were four others empty. When she went to pay for the extra night she could only pay by cash because she should have paid at time of booking!!! Lovely site but booking system will put even those from NI off going to it!
Cannot really blame the council for making people pay in full when it is too easy not to turn up leaving a pitch unpaid for and empty. The old adage "you get what you pay for" applies. In this case it is a fabulously well run caravan park with polite helpfull staff and great facilities. Pay the fee and stop complaining!
Advance booking is fine but should only take a deposit not the full amount. This is not best practice if you wish to encourage tourism, which hopefully is one of your aims!
Online bookings are fine but take a non refundable deposit but not full payment. this would encourage people to book
This is a comment for ABC. This is a great caravan site we enjoy it very much. Why are you messing it up with all these new rules Online booking (To be paid in full) how can people lay out so much money if they want to book a number of dates in advance. What about people from outside NI. they will never get booked so much for tourism. Please do not spoil a great site think again!!!
