Welcome to THE BRAID

Named after the river that runs through Ballymena - and as tribute to the local flax linen industry - the venue successfully weaves local history, arts and culture alongside contemporary conference, tourism and civic facilities on a site that has been for centuries the centre of local civic life.

New facilities have brought new audiences and new experiences, with a 425 seater Main Concert Hall including state of the art sound, lighting systems and a full operating flytower, the Arts Centre can accommodate everything from professional touring theatre to large scale music events.

The Arts Centre at The Braid provides opportunities for experiencing and participating in the arts in a modern and accessible way and is open to all arts events and forms, to help illuminate the cultural life of the borough.

Mid-Antrim Museum

The Mid-Antrim Museum offers a fascinating experience for all the family. The museum boasts two large state of the art exhibition galleries. In the history gallery the story of the mid-Antrim area and its people is presented in a thoroughly contemporary way.

Fabulous building in town centre - easy parking accross street - pity about some shabby old buildings opposite. Inside the Arts Centre you could be in New York or London !!! Ballymena people are very lucky - lots of great shows on - well worth a visit !

My children attended The Braid Arts Centre over this summer - total godsend !!!!! Plus they gained lots of new skills - would recommend the classes for children - they are on all year - lots for adults too.
Lovely, modern new building - there to be made use of by us all - even if you dont live in the area. Very easy to get to - parking just across the street.

On my way to the coast, called into The Braid Arts Centre, beautiful place with loads happening, good on ye Ballymena - who says it all happens in Belfast.
Picked up the Arts programme - will make the trip back to go to some of the shows (cheaper than a night out in the city)
