The dramatic north Irish coast is the rugged setting to the Downhill Estate. The estate includes ruins, a mausoleum, beautiful gardens and the famous Mussenden Temple perched on the cliff edge.
There cannot be a more wild and dramatic place in Northern Ireland than the landscape park of Downhill. The romantic vision of Frederick Hervey, Earl of Bristol and Bishop of Derry, he created an elegant mansion at Downhill, which now lies in ruins. On the nearby clifftop the Earl Bishop built the circular Mussenden Temple as his library, modelled on the Temple of Vesta at Tivoli.
The Temple perilously sits on the cliff top, overlooking the glorious Benone beach and Castlerock golf course, with stunning views over the North Coast.
The Temple is used for midsummer concerts and can provide the perfect setting for your wedding day.
