Situated outside the original walled city of Derry and not far from the River Foyle is The Guildhall. This neo-Gothic style building is the civic and cultural centre for the people of the city. There are many concerts, exhibitions and meetings held here throughout the year.

The Guildhall was Ooriginally built in 1890 by the Londonderry Corporation but in 1908 it was badly damaged by a fire and was rebuilt by 1912.

In 1972, the Guildhall was destroyed by a number of bomb attacks and carefully restored and reopened in 1978. The interior houses some of the finest examples of stained glass windows in Ireland with many having been restored using the original watercolour designs and carried out by Ulster craftsmen.. The council chamber on the ground floor is the seat of Derry City Council.

The council chamber within is richly ornamented and contains a beautiful range of stained-glass windows presented by the London Livery Companies.

Admission Free.

What was the cause of fire in 1908

Would love to see more for Derry Nuala. I know these guys, and there passionate about NI in general.  However, it's Derry City Council who would make the decision on whether to add more Derry content. This page is only here because the guy who started this website likes the Virtual Tours, but I think it may have to come down at some point.

Great idea!!  Should have some more content, e.g. Brooke Park, Shipquay St., Craft Village, The Diamond, etc.  Keep up the great work...I enjoy the memories! Thank you.
