W5 is a world-class interactive discovery centre and is located at Odyssey in the heart of Belfast.

Let your imagination turn, twist and fly through over 160 interactive exhibits in four dynamic exhibition areas which are housed in five action packed exhibition areas - WOW, START, GO, SEE & DO. Attractions including a lie detector, laser harp, building bridges, a giant racetrack, robot building plus lots more.

START has been specially designed for 3-8 year olds to help them learn through play. This is a fun, exciting and highly experiential learning zone. The exhibits have been specially designed to encourage the development of:

  • motor skills
  • language and expression
  • playing with others through role play activities
  • creativity, imagination and exploration
  • understanding of themselves, their home and the world around them.

SEE
is an interactive area featuring nature and biodiversity, sustainable development and now includes Think Creative a themed area where you can be an animator and create cartoons, add sound affects to animation, try your hand at theatrical lighting, be the photo editor of a newspaper and explore the work of the professionals.

GO.
Make your heart beat faster and take the tug of war challenge. Get elevated on the pulley chairs, explore space, make magnets move or build and race your own K’nex car. GO features exhibits exploring health, hygiene, genetics, geology, electric circuits, flight and forces.

W5's location in the Odyssey, Northern Ireland's Millennium Landmark Project, provides spectacular views of Belfast and the River and is only a short walk from Belfast City Centre.

A great day out for all the family, lots for everyone to do, so much so that this must be almost our 10th visit!  Quite a cold building though, so bring an extra layer of clothing.  The children love it all, but allow plenty of time to see everything as the children tend to spend a long time at each exhibition.
