Great view. I love it. Used to go to the wild strawberry patch just above the hatchet field and visit the curlew nest every year. Never told anyone about that, just in case they went up to destroy it. Kept it a secret between two mates

The Black Mountain holds great memories for me. When i was a child , i would spend many wonderful days on the Black Mountain. The view was magical and the environment was just unspoiled wilderness.I remember sheep roaming the summit and wild life was everywhere to be seen. Often we would climb the mountain, via the gully. Wasn't easy, but great fun. Good to see such great work being done on what is after all a treasure, on the edge of West Belfast, for everyone to enjoy.
A stunning view. In years gone by the hillsides had many sheep and the sound of skylarks filled the summer sky. A paradise indeed for us children on our long summer holiday.
